This is the biggest festival in the district. The festival is popular for the dance of the ox called the Raksha Mangcham. On the third day of the festival, Guru Tshengye Thongdrol (large scroll painting of Guru Rinpoche and his eight manifestations) is unfurled for people to get blessings from.
This festival has it all. It gives you a wonderful insight to the lifestyle of nomadic highlanders in Bhutan. The different culture and traditions of Bhutan is displayed. An alpine flower exhibition is held and tourists can also try their hand at local sports. Several cultural programs are hosted included dances and songs.
This is also a good time to see the rare and endangered flower, White Poppy (Meconopsis superba), which grows in Haa and nowhere else in the entire world.
